I mainly use it as kind of a nightlight in my bird room when it's time for everyone to settle down for bedtime. I imagine that it would be good for a child's bedroom for the same reason. My husband likes it for a nightlight (on the lowest level of brightness) in the bathroom for when he gets up at night.It casts a warm light that has three different levels of brightness, quickly changeable by tapping the top of the lamp. At its brightest, it doesn't light up the room, but it's plenty enough to be a nice ambient light for a small area. I like it more than I expected to.Battery life is excellent, and it's easy to charge it up overnight.This little light is perfect when you just want to get around at night without waking everyone up. It's easy to charge and each charge lasts a long time. All you have to do is tap on the top to turn it on or off. It has three different light levels. Looks good when not in use, too.This portable lamp is ideal. In the evenings it sits on my bedside table, plugged in to charge for the night. The dimmest setting is perfect for this time, and it’s so easy to reach over and tap the top to shut it off——or on in the morning when I get dressed. I then unplug it and carry it to the desk, where it lives during the day as a desk lamp. It’s easy to move around on the desk with no cord to limit its positioning. I love that I can carry it around, that it’s tap to turn on/off and that it has 3 brightness levels. You tap the top, not the base for on/off. So you can hold it without affecting your chosen light level. My photo shows how it illuminates the desk to help you decide if it’s enough for your needs.I have one lamp similar that purchased some time ago and it is quite a bit brighter, sturdier and easier to use. I did not fully investigate this light. I was disappointed in that it only had three brightness options, whereas the other one is infinite. I use these as night stand lights in my bedroom. The low settings are nice and keep me from stumbling in the dark. The size is convenient and having a continuous source of light during power outage is also a benefit. I am not complaining and I probably would have still purchased it.I love this product, it’s sturdy, is a good size, and portable. It needs to be charged frequently when off base but I don’t mind that. The one thing I wish was different is that it was brighter.I like the freedom of using the lamp for long periods of time before charging it and not to worry about where I am going to hook it upThis light works great as night light, small table lamp for patio area, and light for bathroom (touch and you have a dim light - not bright bathroom light at night). It looks great, but this was a very disappointing product!We ordered this project originally and received decent quality desktop lamps. The most recent order is an entirely different model, falls apart easily, and doesn't shine the same light colours. We have requested a return or exchange multiple times with no response back.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCTWe bought four of these for our outdoor table. Having received them 3 of the 4 worked. We have then put the remaining 3 on charge, take them off charge and now none work. A total waste of money.I bought two identical lamps about a week ago in order to have them as a pair on a dinner table. At first everything seemed fine, but after a couple of days a difference in brightness could be clearly noted. When both lamps are fully charged the brightness for one lamp on "level 2" is as strong as for the other lamp on "level 3". This is a bit irritating since we wanted to have them close together with the same brightness. The battery in the weaker lamp does not seem to be as good as the battery in the other lamp.Update: After a couple of more days the weaker lamp has stopped to shine unless it is not plugged in. It seems that the battery is now completely dead.This took a long time to arrive and when it did there was nothing protecting the lamp in the box. It was strange. However, it does work and we do love the soft light it gives off. It feels like we are eating at a high-end restaurant at night. Almost like candlelight.
